House in Honduras
March 22-26, 2010
COMPLETED
This special house was built over Spring Break by a team from New Heights Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas and a crew of energetic sorority students from the University of Arkansas. We worked with long-time friends at Mercy International in Yamarangilla, Honduras to orchestrate the build. A lot was accomplished with our large crew: 1. a house for Julia and her family was completed along with new table and chairs, blankets and towels 2. a roof was completed on Nellie’s house a short walk from Julia’s. She had been living in front of her uncompleted home for almost a year. 3. a cement foundation was completed for a new home in the same area 4. a fourteen inch trench was dug using many pick axe’s and shovels allowing for a cement foundation to be completed soon.
We were also part of a medical clinic in Monte Verde a small town located in the beautiful mountains of Honduras. Two doctors saw over 50 patients and a Honduran dentist who heroically pulled teeth throughout the day.
A cement foundation for a church was also laid in the area.
We are in awe of what this team accomplished. Bobby, Cheri, Emily, Beau and Wesley Tate along with Madie Mills picked up hammers, brushes, soccer balls and shovels to finish the house with the bright red door for Julia and her family.
As we handed Julia and her family a smiling photo of Olivia, we knew once again we were truly doing the right thing. Don’t hesitate to join us for a build.
