Project2

House in Honduras – March 22-26  COMPLETED

This is a special house was built over Spring Break by a team from New Heights Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas and a crew of energetic students from the University of Arkansas. We worked with long-time friends at Mercy International in Yamarangilla, Honduras to orchestrate the build. With this large energetic team a lot happened: 1. a house for Julia and her family was completed along with new table and chairs, blankets and towels 2. a roof was completed on Nellie’s house a short walk from Julia’s. She had been living in front of her uncompleted home for almost a year. 3. a cement foundation was completed for a new home. 4. a fourteen inch trench was dug with a bunch of pick axe’s and shovels allowing for a cement foundation to be completed soon.

We also did a medical clinic in Monte Verde a small town located in the beautiful mountains of Honduras. We had two doctors who saw over 50 patients and a Honduran dentist who heroically pulled teeth throughout the day.

We also helped lay a cement foundation for a church in the area.

We are still in awe of all this team was able to accomplish. We were all tired at the end of the day but without complaint were ready to go again each new morning.

As we handed Julia and her family a smiling photo of Olivia, we knew once again we were truly doing the right thing. Don’t hesitate to join us for a build you can help with.
